No-exam life insurance

What applicants can use this faster path, how the process works, and what's different if you don't qualify.

A lot of carriers now use rapid underwriting: if you're within their age and amount window, they can make a decision based on your application, what's in your prescription records, your driving history, and other information—no paramedical exam needed. Decisions can arrive within hours. Every quote you see here shows you whether a physical exam is required, might be required, or isn't necessary for that specific product.

What it changes

No-exam approval doesn't mean no underwriting—your answers still get checked against what the carrier knows. If a policy gets issued based on answers that turn out to be inaccurate, it can be challenged in the first two years. The carrier might still request an exam or bloodwork if its records suggest you should be asked; at that point, you get to decide whether to keep going.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, people under about age 60 who are applying for an amount within the carrier's fast-track guidelines, have no serious health issues, and haven't used tobacco in the past year or longer. If you've had a recent medical appointment with lab work, some carriers will let you use those results instead of a new exam.

When an exam is needed, it's typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical professional at your home or workplace in the Aliso Viejo area, and it's free. For applicants in good health, the exam results often lead to a better rate classification, so it can actually work in your favor.
